Jefferson Lines Launches New Service in Iowa City to Des Moines, Chicago and Minneapolis

New service in Iowa City provides greater access to destinations across the Midwest and Eastern U.S.

IOWA CITY, IA — Effective June 30, 2026, Jefferson Lines will launch new service in Iowa City to Williamsburg, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Dubuque, Mason City, Clear Lake, Chicago and Minneapolis. Passengers will have improved travel times and more departure choices with new daytime routes.  

The new route strengthens transportation options throughout Iowa while providing convenient connections to Jefferson Lines’ national network. Travelers will have expanded access to destinations in and beyond Iowa, including Minneapolis, Chicago and connections to Washington D.C., New York City, Baltimore and other eastern cities.  

Passengers traveling from Iowa City will depart from the Court Street Transportation Center, a centrally located transportation hub with convenient access to parking and free Iowa City Transit services. 

By connecting key regional markets and surrounding communities, the expanded routes offer residents, students, business travelers and visitors a straightforward and reliable transportation option throughout the Midwest and beyond.
